Thanks for visiting my website!
I live in the beautiful Western Cape, South Africa. I have always loved crafting, and made dollshouses as a child, using shoebox rooms and matchbox furniture. Windows made with tin foil pasted against the cardboard wall, and fabric scraps as curtains. I wish I had a picture of one of those creations. They didn't cost a cent, but gave us hours of pleasure.
As an adult, after buying fine 1:12th scale wooden furniture at a craft market (just because I thought it was "cute"!), I was pleasantly surprised when I realised that this was actually a real hobby, and that there were many thousands of people all over the world involved in this addictive passtime. I learned about the Cape Town Miniaturia Guild, joined, and have since learned many new skills, like woodwork, turning and soldering. You can use all your previously learned skills when making miniatures, like patchwork, sewing, pottery, needlepoint and other forms of embroidery, knitting, crochet, etc. Everything is just done in a smaller scale, with in-scale materials. I'm sort of a "Jack of all trades, master of none", but I thoroughly enjoy doing my hobby.
I work mostly in 1/12th scale, although recently I've been experimenting with 1/144 and 1/48 scale as well.
The miniatures that I make, aren't toys, although what we do, is sometimes called "playing" by those who don't know any better! :-)
I hope you will enjoy looking at my projects.
