Paneled Library
Ray Whitledge and Scott Burgess did the Elegant Paneled Library project, published in Miniature Collector of June to August 2006. It shows a faux woodgraining technique, which worked really well for this project.
This is what I've done so far on my project:
I took a picture through my window, printed it, and now the view through the window looks like a piece of home. The basic box is done, I just need to paint the outside, have a nice frame made, add the portrait lights, glue in the ceiling, and hang the chandelier. I always complete as much as I can, before adding the ceiling. Makes it easier when doing the fiddly bits.
At least the carpet is done! The Milk Maid painting was done by Cindy Lotter www.simplysmall.com , and I love it. Now I need another one on the opposite wall.
I'm having a problem matching fabrics for the curtains and sofa, which I still need to make. The sofa will go against the wall to the left, with 2 chairs on the opposite side, both sides of the fireplace. I'm going to make 2 Regency chairs with Rose Evans in a workshop at the Miniatures Convention in Betty's Bay, September 2013. These chairs will go next to the fireplace. See, I work with a plan!
I've made a working crystal chandelier with Rose Evans at a previous convention. I still need to add a few finishing touches to the chandelier, but I'll do that once the ceiling is in, and the chandelier is ready to go in. I will have to make lots of books for the shelves, and hope to find some nice blue and white china pieces to display too.

Marbling done on MDF, for the fireplace hearth.

I'm on leave now, so I've made a lot of progress. I painted the outside of the box black, had a nice frame made for the front, completed my chairs, and started the curtains. I also added a light above the painting.

This not-so-great picture shows some of my progress. (Still getting to know my new camera).
I have completed my 2 Regency chairs, and made seat covers with Florentine embroidery on 40 ct silk gauze.
The bell pull on the left side of the carpet, is a Janet Granger kit that was a gift from a friend. It was worked on 32 ct silk gauze. I seem to have lost the hardware that goes with it, so for now its floating around.
The handmade lace doilie on the table is by Jeanette Fisher.
I painted the ceiling and glued in the ceiling rose, ready for my UFO chandelier that I still need to complete.

Funny how a picture in your head sometimes don't work out. I pictured blue curtains, to go with my blue theme, but I couldn't get the right colour to go with the carpet. I went through my fabric stash, and this green fabric jumped out. It picked up the green in the carpet perfectly. It was my first time doing a swag. I love how classy it looks.
I am currently experimenting with paper patterns to find the correct size sofa to go with the chairs. The patterns I could find in books or magazines, look either too bulky, or too dainty for this scene. Who said 1:12th scale is 1:12th scale?

I've made this sofa by scaling down a pattern in an old Nutshell News. I had to make it fit the space.
